If you’re anything like me (which, if you’re reading this, you probably are), then you love watching car videos online. The only annoying thing is trying to find them, because let’s face it, navigating YouTube can get tiring after a while, there’s only so many times I can handle watching videos that are NOTHING like what the thumbnail and description makes them out to be. That’s where Autos in HD comes into the picture. Much like Build-Threads gathers up all your favourite builds from around the ‘net and posts them in one convenient place, Autos in HD does the same thing with videos. One thing I love more than reading about a good build is actually watching one, my numerous seasons of Rides & Overhaulin’ DVDs at home are proof to that, not to mention the hours worth of Wheeler Dealers I’ve watched on Youtube! Pictures are great, but video is better, so naturally I was excited to see that Formula Drift driver Luke Lonberger is video-documenting the build of his 2011 car, a C6 Corvette. Here is the first video, shot by Lab17, with more to follow soon, I can’t wait!

I don’t know if you guys have noticed but I like to feature a bit of everything here, from big dollar to small budget, high power to electric, cheque-book-built to DIY, fabricated to bolt-on, and so on and so on. If I had to put my money on it, I’d say the most popular builds would have to be a combination of the following elements; DIY, engine swaps, and some fabrication thrown in for good measure. This build features all of those plus some wow factor, a ’74 Chevy Nova with a 13B turbo Mazda rotary powering the wheels, submitted via email by Daniel. Speedhunters have just done a nice writeup on Ed “Big Daddy” Roth as a part of their “Misfits and Mavericks Month”. Whilst reading through the comments at the end of the story, I noticed someone posted up a non-descriptive Youtube link related to the subject. When I clicked the link I was greeted with a full length movie/documentary over 1hr in length. If you’ve got the time, I highly recommend watching this piece. Not only does it focus on Ed’s crazy creations, but it also touches on the history of hot rodding and how it boomed into a successful commercial industry, something I find very interesting. 1950′s California sure would have been a fun place to be growing up as a young gear-head.

Competing against two other teams, BOWLS are converting an xB into a 70′s SOCAL styled pickup with a matching Ruckus residing in the tray. All three projects are going to be unveiled at the upcoming ’09 SEMA show, with the winners taking home a tasty $10,000.
